 Surprise Package: Super Eagles’ only home-based player at the 2023 AFCON

     Ojo Olorunleke made it to the final 25-man squad that represented Nigeria at Abidjan 2023 AFCON, being the only Nigeria-based player in the team as the third-choice goalkeeper alongside Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United)and Francis Uzoho (Omonia Nicosia), following a strings of stellar performances for Enyimba FC of Abain the NPFL(Nigeria Professional Football League) and the CAF Champions League.

     He captains the most successful and consistent top flight football team in Nigeria and on of the biggest in African football. A goalkeeper per excellence, had played for Giwa FCof Jos before their expulsion from the league, joined AkwaUnitedof Uyo before finally settling down at Enyimba FC and becoming the skipper.

   He was included in the provisional 50-man list, and no one gave him he chance to make it to the showpiece, but destiny they say can never be denied, he however didn’t tasted a single second as Nigeria made it to the Final and lost to the host nation.
